A floor levelling compound is a self-smoothing cement or gypsum product poured over an existing floor to make it flat. It goes down in millimetres, not tens of millimetres, and it's ready for floor coverings in about a day.
Goodwins lists Larsen SLC 2000 at €34.99 per 25 kg incl. VAT, and Larsen says a bag covers 1.6 m² at 10 mm. That's about €21.87 per m² in material at 10 mm.

Drying times are for good conditions, closed up and ventilated. The floor is tested before finishes go down, not guessed. None of the Irish screeding contractors' sites we checked publish a price per m², so the price comes from your floor.
Screed or levelling compound
A screed builds up the floor: 25 mm and more. A levelling compound corrects a floor that's already there: Larsen gives 5–30 mm for SLC 2000 and Ardex gives 5–35 mm for K 15 HB in one application. If the floor needs more than that, or the existing screed is loose or hollow, it's a screed job.

How quickly
- Larsen SLC 2000: foot traffic in 2 to 4 hours, moisture-sensitive finishes after a day. Classed CT-C30-F7-RWA20 under BS EN 13813.
- Ardex K 15 HB: walkable in about 2 hours, ceramic tiles after 4 hours, floor coverings after a day whatever the thickness.
- Bostik lists Cempolay Ultra as suitable for use with underfloor heating.

Before you pour
- Have the floor underneath checked first. A compound is a surface layer; a loose or hollow screed needs repairing or replacing.
- Prime first. On a calcium sulphate screed, Gyvlon says priming seals the surface and separates it from cement-based smoothing compounds.
- Check the moisture. Gyvlon asks for 75% RH before floor finishes, and says gypsum-based products may be possible at 87% RH if their maker agrees.
- Seal the doorways and edges so the compound can't run away under them.
