Figures checked against each source on 29 October 2026. How we check
Meath finished more one-off houses than any other Leinster county in the first nine months of 2026, and half its homes are detached. Self-builds mean underfloor heating, a heat pump and a screed that has to fit the build programme.
We pass requests from across County Meath to one screeding contractor who covers your county. They ring you, ask about the floor and price it. Nothing is booked until you say yes.
Screed planner
Plan a floor in Meath
Put in your floor and the day it's laid. You get the volume, the weight, when it should be dry enough for floor finishes, and when the heating can go on, from the makers' own figures.
Drying times are for good conditions, closed up and ventilated. The floor is tested before finishes go down, not guessed. None of the Irish screeding contractors' sites we checked publish a price per m², so the price comes from your floor.

What's being built
Meath's 1,291 new homes in the first nine months of 2026 were 940 scheme houses, 217 one-off houses and 134 apartments. On a self-build the screed is booked between the first fix and the floor finish, so the drying time shapes the whole programme. A thinner liquid screed, or a fast-drying screed, can bring the floor finish forward.

The housing stock
Census 2022 counted 36,472 detached houses in Meath, 50% of households, and 22,835 homes built between 2001 and 2010. Houses from that decade are now reaching the age for extensions.

Radon under the floor
93 of the 1,250 Meath homes the EPA measured were at or above the radon reference level. A one-off house in a High Radon Area needs a radon membrane under the floor, and every house since 1 July 1998 needs a standby sump.

Questions people ask
Do you cover all of Meath?
Yes: Navan, Ashbourne, Ratoath, Trim, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Kells, Laytown, Bettystown and the rural one-off sites in between.
How much does floor screeding cost in Meath?
None of the Irish screeding contractors' websites we checked on 29 October 2026 publishes a price per m². The price comes from your floor: the area, the depth, the type of screed, access for the pump and what's under it. See the cost guide for Irish merchant prices and what a quote should list.
Which screed suits a new house in Meath?
Over underfloor heating, a liquid screed needs 25 mm over the pipes (Roadstone, Gyvlon, Cemfloor); a floating sand and cement screed in a house is normally 65 mm (MPA). The contractor advises once they know the floor zone and your dates.
Who will ring me?
We pass your request to one screeding contractor who covers your county. Your number isn't sent to a list. They ring you, ask about the floor and your dates, and price it from the drawings or a look at the site. Nothing is booked until you say yes. Naming a manufacturer or merchant on this site doesn't mean they're involved in your job.
